The Next Chapter...

The next leg of the Formula Junior World Series happens in New Zealand. The series includes the following races:

Hampton Downs is midway between Auckland and Hamilton. Bruce McLaren Motorsports Park is in Taupo (the star below Rotorua on the map). The Levels is in Timaru, the star between Christchurch and Dunedin on the map.

You may have noticed that all these events are on consecutive weekends. It is going to be busy. The only easy ones are the first two since they are at the same track, just different configurations. Most of these events have practice available on Friday, so unloading the container will have to be on Thursday. We will have the container packed up by Sunday night. That leaves Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to get to the next place and see any sights on the way.

The Taupo/Christchurch changeover will be challenging. Taupo to Wellington is 5 hours by car. You have to book ferry passage from Wellington to Picton (near Nelson). Picton to Ruapuna is another 5 hours as well. And there is lots of cool stuff to see between those points.

After all this is done, the container heads back to Australia for the Phillip Island Classic Historic Race on March 17-19. That was supposed to be the end of the southern trip. But there's more.... I have received an invitation to participate in Demonstration Laps at the Australian Formula 1 race in Melbourne the weekend after Phillip Island. I explained to the organizer that I am just one car in the container of 6, so they invited the rest as well! As of today, it looks like this is going to happen. Hope the car is still running by that time!
